The Happening! is an Amsterdam “travel-event” unlike anything else out there. It combines the best elements of organized and independent travel – the value, direction and friendship of group travel with the personal decision making power of independent travel.
Hotel accommodation, an unlimited local transportation pass, free or discounted entrance to more than 50 Amsterdam sites & attractions plus tons of local information and resources to help you plan before your trip, are all included. Two "Gatherings" are also arranged each day to provide a great way to meet other travelers with similar interests to yours.
This unique multi-day photo-treasure-hunt enables you to discover whatever interests you most in one of Europe's most inspiring cities. A kick-off happy hour canal cruise is organized on the evening of arrival, after which, The Happening! Guide will be emailed to all teams and the competition begins. The Happening! Guide is loaded with tips and ideas about things to do and see around the city in the form of an Amsterdam treasure hunt list.
There are photos to capture and bonus questions to answer all throughout the city. You will shape your own days by choosing from hundreds of Amsterdam cultural experiences, activities, nightlife options and restaurants referenced in The Happening! Guide and earning the allocated points associated with your choices.
Photos and answers will be uploaded at the end of the event, points will be tallied, the results will be posted on The Happening! Website and prizes will be awarded to members of the winning team.
Teams are made up of 2 people and both members must be over 18 years old and hold a valid passport.
Accommodation
The Happening! includes 3-star twin hotel accommodation with easy access to all sections of Amsterdam. Breakfast is included daily.
Transportation The Happening! Guide
The Happening! Guide is set up like a treasure hunt list. The city is divided into 4 regions, each with a list of photos to take and questions to answer. Photos and questions fall into the following subcategories within each region of Amsterdam:
A 3-day pass which allows unlimited use of all Amsterdam trams, buses and the metro system. The pass also entitles teams to free-entry or discounts at more than 50 museums, activities, restaurants, bars and clubs throughout Amsterdam.

Each photo or question is assigned a point value, thus teams accrue points by doing whatever they choose to do each day.

Gatherings
The destination for one afternoon and one evening Gathering is listed every day. The destinations vary from Amsterdam cafes and coffeeshops to activities and nightclubs. The Gatherings are completely optional and act simply as an easy and fun opportunity for Happening! People to meet other Happening! People.
The Happening! Wristband
Each participant is issued a Happening! Wristband which will subtly identify them to each other and work as an instant ice-breaker. The Happening! Wristband also entitles teams to free-entry or discounts at Gatherings.
Competition
At a pre-determined finish time, photos and answers are uploaded and the team that accrues the most points will win the Grand Prize - an Apple iPod Touch for each member of the team. This competition adds a fun and unique component, making The Happening! as much an event as a vacation and will keep teams motivated to experience as much of Amsterdam as possible during their stay.
